The past 6 or 7 years of my life has been crazy. There were some things that happened before those years that were a bit crazy too, but the last 6 or 7 years take the cake. I would say it all started with my parents' divorce. It was a bit of a messy break up. My mom finally decided to leave my dad and we moved to Georgia. I was definitely angry because I felt like he let us leave and didn't want us to stay. I don't want to get into details really...but I wasn't living right. I became a bit cold, withdrawn, and empty. It wasn't until a year and a half ago that I really took a look at myself and said "I have issues that I need to fix within myself". I became spiritual and found inner peace. I have finally realized that every crazy thing that has happened to me has built my character and has really helped me grow into the person I am today.

A while ago, I had a weird dream. I was playing with my 5 year old niece and I was holding this ugly looking doll. Then I broke it in half and found a mermaid inside of it. It made me really happy and then I gave it to my niece. There were some other parts I don't remember, but that's the part I remember the most. When I woke up, I was so confused but then I looked up mermaid symbolism and my dream finally made sense. Seeing a mermaid in your dream represents the mystical and magical part of yourself. It also represents the part of yourself that transcends the logical mind. Like your inner knowing or intuition. What I took from the dream was that I am special, creative, intuitive, and that I should always follow my heart. I also need to teach my niece the same thing so she doesn't get caught up in the "stiffness" of society.

"Kundalini Awakening"

Price: $140: in the U.S. & $150: out of the U.S. (to purchase, email me at TwanKaikpo@gmail.com & I will give you further details)

Do you know what a kundalini awakening is? First of all, kundalini is an evolutionary & creative force of infinite wisdom that's inside all of us! This "force" is represented by a snake & is coiled 3 & a half times around. It lies dormant at the base of the spine. All the magic happens in the subtle body &/or chakras. So how do you know when your kundalini energy is awakening? It's a process that's brought about through yoga, meditation, & the alignment of the chakras. There are some physical symptoms that go along with the awakening. What does it feel like? It varies with each person, but one thing people agree on is that you feel "enlightened" & free of emotional blockages.

Can I be honest with you? I was totally bored when I made this. I really wanted to paint but didn't know what to paint! So I laid around for about 30 minutes & thought about back in 9th grade when I realized I loved art. My art teacher gave us an assignment where we had to draw ribbons. Once I learned how...I became obsessed! I drew ribbons on every & anything when I was bored. I got an A on my project & my art teacher asked me if I ever thought about pursuing a career in art. I said no because I didn't know anyone could actually do that. 9 years later...I'm trying to pursue a career in art. Shout out to Ms. Gari!

My real name is Twan. You thought my real name was Twanye East Da Art Beast right? I knew it. Well it's just Twan. I swear it isn't short for anything. Just those 4 letters. Whenever I asked my mom what my name meant she would say "Uh it means bell or something...I don't know". Then one random day, my best friend asked me what my name meant & I told her what my mom said. But she decided to google it anyway. When she did, the word "twang" came up. It meant "sound", "the sound an instrument makes" or "vibration". All of those definitions kind of went back to what my mom said. I thought it was really interesting because I have a pretty distinctive voice. It's really raspy & airy. I also sing, so I thought "wow I'm literally an instrument!" I recently figured out that I am a lightworker. I feel like my mission on earth is to bring vibrations of love, peace, & joy to humanity through my creative talents! I am God's instrument!

"Let Her Shine Bright Like the Moon"

(acrylic paint on canvas, 16x20 inches)

Price: $90:in the U.S. & $100: out of the U.S. (to purchase, email me at TwanKaikpo@gmail.com & I will give you further details)

One random morning, my mom busted into my room at 5 am. I was half asleep & pissed! She was on the phone with this pastor that kind of tells the future (true story!). The pastor told her to come to my room & pray over me! I'm guessing that's when she decided to bust open my door. Then she put her hand on my forehead & began to pray. I don't remember everything she said, but the part that stood out the most was "Let her be the leader of the family! Let her shine bright like the moon. Let her lead people through the darkness." It really stuck with me because: 1. I'm obsessed with the moon...but I've never told my mom that. 2. I'm the "weird" one in my family...the only open minded one...so I figured I would be the one to bring change amongst them. Plus when I was younger all the other kids assumed that I was their leader so they would always follow me around. 3. I feel like my purpose is to illuminate the way for others & lead them through the darkness. I want to help others find the light...

"Lust"

(acrylic paint on canvas panel, 16x20 inches)

Price: $90:in the U.S. & $100: out of the U.S. (to purchase, email me at TwanKaikpo@gmail.com & I will give you further details)

Is "lusty" a word? Well maybe it is, because when I typed it there wasn't a red line under the word. Hahaha. I would describe myself as a lusty individual. When I want something or someone...that's all I see. Maybe borderline obsessed. But I'm not crazy, I promise. Haha, okay maybe a little bit. Hey don't act like you're not lusting after someone/something or like you've never have before!!! Well when I want someone...I'm out for blood. No, not in a I'm a crazy killer person kind of way. More like a "you're mine & no one else's" kind of way. So when I thought of capturing the idea of "lust" I immediately thought of vampires when they're trying to & finally catch their prey. I know...I'm odd. I'm an artist...what did you expect?!

"Other Side of the Game"

(acrylic paint on canvas panel, 16x20 inches)

Price: $90:in the U.S. & $100: out of the U.S. (to purchase, email me at TwanKaikpo@gmail.com & I will give you further details)

This is probably my favorite painting that I've ever painted! Probably because of the story behind it. Well first of all it's named "Other Side of the Game" after the Erykah Badu song "Other Side of the Game" (she's awesome!!!). The song is about a girl who is dating a guy who has an "interesting job" (ugh, okay he's a drug dealer...there I said it.). She finds out she's pregnant & isn't sure what to do. Even though her boyfriend's choice of job sucks, it pays the bills! She also knows that he's her twin flame/soul mate & knows that she can't take care of the baby without him.

"He gave me the life that I came to live. Gave me the song that I came to give. Pressure is on me but the seed is growing. I can't make it on my own. Summer came around & the flowers bloomed. He became the sun & I became the moon. Precious gifts that we both received...boy can this be make believe?"
